June is Men’s Health Awareness Month
If you’re a young man who’s aged out of foster care, you might not have had many chances to learn about caring for your health. Maybe no one talked to you about check-ups, mental wellness, or healthy habits. That’s why Men’s Health Month exists—to remind you that your health matters, and that taking care of yourself is one of the strongest things you can do.
What Is Men’s Health Awareness Month?
This month is all about raising awareness around preventable health issues that affect men and boys. It encourages early detection, healthy habits, and real conversations—especially around topics that are often brushed off or ignored.
5 Key Health Topics Every Young Man Should Know
Mental Health – PTSD, depression, and anxiety affect men too. You don’t have to “tough it out” on your own.
Heart Health – High blood pressure and heart disease can develop early, especially with stress or a family history.
Testicular Health – Young men ages 15–35 are most at risk for testicular cancer. A quick self-exam each month can save your life.👉 Learn how here
Sexual Health & STDs – Getting tested regularly is part of adulthood. Protect your body and your future.👉 Find free or low-cost testing
Substance Use – Struggling with smoking, alcohol, or drugs? You’re not alone. Help is out there.

Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish—it’s smart. Whether it’s making a doctor’s appointment, learning about your body, or talking to someone about how you feel, every small step matters. You’ve already faced so much. Now’s the time to invest in your health—and your future.
